Incidental things investigates ways of expressing human frailty. In this series I am using an uncertain pictorial space and pared down colour. The title comes from the first time I remember hearing the term incident used to describe the bombing of Baghdad in 2002. It seemed a disquietingly casual description of relentless bombings.
As models to draw in the development of Incidental things, I started making small objects cast in plaster. These objects reference the human body in the form of feet or shoes or the imprint of such. Arrangements juxtapose tenderness and attention to detail in the representation of maimed, ill and broken parts.
